At our new home

This is a picture of us in front of our new house.

Working on an important deal

Worked on an important deal at work today, but had time to take this picture of myself with my K800 phone. In re-trospect, it was not such a great idea to post this, as I realy look tired... which I was, and as my blog says this is the way that I am.

Just before sunrise

This is a picture taken out of the Strandsig flat looking out over Falsebay just before sunrise. The air was crisp and the see so calm with a glimmer of the sunlight reflecting off it. Last night we had some Woolworths chicken with a red Merlot. This is probably the last time that we slept in the Strand flat as we have sold it.

Hendrik and his son

Hetta could not join us for this evening's wine tasting, so Hendrik asked Henk (one of his sons) to join us for the tasting. It was great to have him with us tonight and we enjoyed sharpening our white wine tasting skills.

Deon and Annelie

We visited the building site this morning. The building contractor is now also working on weekends to try and complete the house at the end of the month. Many smaller items are still outstanding and we think that they will only deliver the house early in June. Deon is the project manager and he is doing a stirling job.

Guineafowl

A lot of Guineafowl live in and around the Kaapse Draai complex where we have been staying for the past two years. They really make a nuisance of themselves with the terrible noise that they make at the most inopportune times (like Sunday afternoon, or early mornings). When we were young, we used to hunt them with air-guns (VERY difficult!) or .22 rifles (easier). What is amazing about them to me, is that they have managed to adapt to people in the city so well that they thrive. How many wild animals have been pushed away because of urban developments? Some, like the guineafowl, we could have co-existed with....

EQuip Course

Doug on the right is the course leader with one of the participants. I had to show them how easily one can blog with the Sony K800 phone that I got. I took this picture and within 30 seconds the photo was on the blog.

Rep worksession

I am attending this amazing workshop at the moment. Can't describe it sufficiently in the space of a small blog. The assumption is that you can only be effective in business if you understand the basis of your belief. In my case being a Christian. I am learning so much and have an expectation that I will be able to be so much more worth at the end of the two weeks.

Flu and Sunset

I contracted a heavy bout of flu over the weekend but decided to try and win it with Dispirins and enough water all on my own. Today, I was scheduled to attend a worksession for Christian leadership in business. Notwithstanding feeling very ill, I decided to attend the event anyhow. By nightfall I was really ill and I had to go to the doctor. This is a picture of the sunset from the doctor's front door with Table Mountain in the background on the horizon. After antibiotics and an injection, I hope to be much better.

Think inside the box

I had dinner with Wim and Antony at Winery Road restaurant tonight. We had a great evening and long discussions on many things. We made plans to win the Cape to Rio race in 2009 on handy cap for instance. The meal was augmented with a 2003 Syncronicity and some pot-stilled brandy from the Back's. The boxes in the picture on the mantlepiece close to our table, urged one to: "to think inside the box". I though that was quite a clever comment.

Goodbye to Ernst and Cathrine

After a hearty English carvery lunch at the pub down the road, we had to greet our son and daughter to tackle the long way home. Of course we were sad, but we had such a wonderful stay and feel so blessed to see the kids grow and cope in a foreign city.
